"We recognise that sustainability is not a fixed destination but an ongoing journey, guided by purposeful decisions and a long-term vision."
As a small independent brand, we are continuously learning, evolving, and challenging ourselves to do better. We actively reflect on the impact of our practices—both in our studio and through our collaborations—and remain committed to finding new, responsible ways to improve. While our progress may be gradual, it is deliberate, and we remain committed to regularly reviewing and improving how we reduce our impact.

Advanced Technology
From managing energy consumption through advanced sewing technology with energy-efficient motors, to repurposing offcuts by up-cycling them into future collections, and reducing waste by avoiding overproduction — every decision is made with care for both people and the planet, as we aim to work to minimise our environmental footprint across the board.

Slow Fashion and Handcrafted Excellence
At NIKOLO BERTOK, mindful choices are woven into every stage of creation — from concept to final stitch. We believe in the principles of slow fashion—creating fewer, more meaningful pieces that are designed to last. The majority of our garments are handcrafted in our London studio, allowing us to maintain full transparency and precision throughout the process. We proudly offer made-to-measure and bespoke services, ensuring every piece is created with purpose, intention, and minimal waste. By rejecting mass production and favouring craftsmanship, we reduce overproduction and support a more considered, enduring way of dressing.

MANUFACTURING
Some of our products are crafted in collaboration with carefully selected manufacturers, primarily based in Great Britain and the European Union. This allows us to maintain strict oversight not only of our own production, but also of our long-term manufacturing partners. By working closely with them and conducting regular audits, we’re able to uphold fair labour standards, ensure safe working conditions, and maintain consistent product quality. Our focus is to collaborate with small businesses and manufacturers to support local artistry and craftsmanship, which also helps us to keep production and stock levels intentionally low.

Materials
Our choice of materials honours both heritage and modern luxury. We work with esteemed British mills such as Holland & Sherry and Dugdale Bros & Co, whose centuries of craftsmanship embody the finest traditions of textile making. Alongside these, we source from trusted local artisans and complement our selection with exceptional fabrics from renowned Italian houses and distinguished international mills, celebrated for their timeless quality. These carefully chosen partnerships uphold the esteemed legacy of textile craftsmanship while ensuring a reduced environmental footprint and complete traceability throughout our supply chain. Every fibre is thoughtfully selected to deliver exceptional durability, unparalleled comfort, and a gentle impact on the environment. By seamlessly marrying heritage craftsmanship with responsible sourcing, we craft enduring pieces that embody sophistication, purpose, and timeless elegance.

Responsible Sourcing
We take a mindful approach to working with leather. Rather than contributing to the demand for new materials, we frequently use leather remnants, second-hand leather, and overstock sourced from the industry. This not only helps reduce waste but also lessens our impact on the leather and animal welfare industries. Each leather piece we create tells a story—not only of refined craftsmanship but also of considered, responsible sourcing.
At our brand, we are deeply committed to ethical and responsible practices. We do not use fur, exotic skins, or any materials sourced from endangered species. All the leather we use is carefully upcycled and reclaimed from domestic animals, ensuring an approach that honours both nature and craftsmanship.
